• What is STUX ?
  
  
  STUX is a bootable CD with a collection of GNU/Linux software, automatic hardware detection, and support for many graphics cards, sound cards, SCSI and USB devices and other peripherals.
  
  STUX 2007 is based on Slackware Linux 11.0 (for packages) and Knoppix 5.0.1 (for kernel, modules, scripts).
  
  STUX allows a full system configuration and usage through the STUX-Utilities, an unique, easy-to-use graphical interface specifically designed for STUX distribution.
  
  Slackware users can use and configure STUX as they have always done with normal Slackware installations.
  
  In addition to Slackware 11.0 packages and to Knoppix modules, STUX includes several extra applications and modules:

• System requirements
  
  
  • Intel-compatible CPU (i486 or later),
  • 20 MB of RAM for text mode, at least 96 MB for graphics mode with KDE (at least 128 MB of RAM is recommended),
  • bootable CD-ROM drive, or a boot floppy and standard CD-ROM (IDE/ATAPI or SCSI),
  • standard SVGA-compatible graphics card,
  • serial or PS/2 standard mouse or IMPS/2-compatible USB-mouse.

• Create boot floppies
  
  If CD ROM will not boot, you can always create an alternative boot device.
  
  STUX let you create boot devices for STUX Live CD for USB key and CDROM.
  
  The boot procedure will look for a STUX compressed image on all available partitions and will load the first one found.

• Boot STUX from Live CD
  
  To start the CD, set up the BIOS of your computer to boot off the CD, put the CD in the drive, and power up the computer. If your computer doesn't support this option, you have to use a boot disk.
  
  
• Live CD boot options
  
  When Live CD starts, you can specify some boot options at the boot prompt.
  You will see a window like this:
  
  
  
  Press F2 or F3 at the boot prompt to have a list of available boot options:

  (*) option works only if configuration has not been saved persistently.
      use the 'noconf' option to start ignoring saved configuration.
  

  If you don't need to specify any boot option, press ENTER to start.
  
  Use 'stux <option> [ ... <option> ]' to start with the specified boot options, then press ENTER to start.
